Sammanfattning
In future, electronic patient records (EPR) will be on the nursing colleges' curriculum in the form of critical reflection. EPR will be included in the subject descriptions and a progression will occur in the level of reflection throughout the nursing training. The benefits of working with EPR in the classroom are, however, not considered to match the cost of obtaining a demo version of the software. This is the conclusion of an evaluation of the potential and implications of obtaining and using EPR at the nursing college in a county where EPR has been implemented in both the primary and secondary health care sectors. A survey shows that five different EPR systems are being used by the county's hospitals and municipal authorities. Interviews with those responsible for teaching students about EPJ
at practical placements suggests that students are systematically trained in the practical use of EPR, but that they do not systematically reflect over EPR in relation to patients' rights and ethical implications. The subjects will therefore become part of theory teaching. Reflection should also be linked to clinical guidance and specific nursing procedures and appear in subject descriptions related to clinical training courses.
