Sammanfattning

LEAN hospital management is all about improving individual patient treatment processes and the underlying organisation, with the aim of freeing up resources from superfluous activities. The purpose is both to achieve better quality treatment of individual patients and to procure extra resources for future patients. Managers in an organisation which utilises the LEAN method should focus in particular on three points: Management of clinical practice: focus on the patients Process management and control: focus on the processes Coaching and delegation: focus on the staff. LEAN management relies on extensive staff involvement. It is the staff who perform the processes and thus best qualified to bring about improvements on an ongoing basis. LEAN concerns culture and management to a high degree.
