Sammanfattning
Tremendous health inequality still exists in Denmark. The highly educated live longest and the least-well educated shortest. This is believed to be related to differences in the life styles of the various different groups in society. Curbing this tendency represents a great challenge to the nursing profession. Research suggests that increased focus on recipients and their social context will amplify the effect of e.g. anti-smoking interventions, and nurses should therefore be particularly aware of this in their day-to-day preventive work.
However, lifestyle cannot be seen in isolation from living conditions, for which reason there is a need for preventive measures aimed at weaker social groups at several levels - both politically and locally. There is also a need for further research to be carried out with the focus on recipients in poor social situations if we are to tailor preventive measures to precisely this group.
