Sammanfattning

Few data are collected in public registers from private dental practice in Norway. A survey was carried out in 2006 and all private practitioners (n=2 618) received a questionnaire. The purpose of the survey was to describe how dental practices are currently organised. Altogether 56??% responded. We suspect that solo practices may be underrepresented. The results show that 38??% of the dentists work in solo practices. Independent of gender most of the dentists prefer to work with other dentists in some form of group practice. 65??% of these dentists work in practices as unincorporated enterprises, the rest are organised as private limited companies. In group practices the most common arrangement is to share some of the costs, while earnings go directly to each member of the group.
