Sammanfattning

The aim of this article is to describe fees for the most common dental services provided by private dentists in Norway. Information about fees and income was collected using a questionnaire that was sent to a sample of private dentists in December 2006. The study was carried out by the Norwegian Dental Association. We received 837 replies from dentists, which represents a response rate of 59 per cent. Dental services in Norway are at present deregulated, with free price competition. Within this type of organization it is expected that fees will vary among different dentists. We found that there was some, but surprisingly little, variation among dentists. On the average, fees are slightly higher in Oslo than in other areas of the country. This can be explained by the fact that mean practices costs per patient visit are higher in Oslo than in the rest of the country.
