Sammanfattning
Nosocomial Legionella infection (NLI) occurs as a result of contamination of water systems with Legionella species. We present cases of NLI diagnosed in the former Copenhagen County from 200-2004, in comparison with country-wide data obtained by notification and laboratory confirmation at Statens Serum Institut. Our results show that the proportion of nosocomial cases in the former Copenhagen County was greater than in the rest of the country, but that the corresponding mortality was lower. Reasons for these discrepancies are discussed.
