Prehospital handläggning av patienter med svår skallskada. Skandinaviska riktlinjer enligt Brain Trauma Foundation
Sammanfattning
Head traumas cause the death of, or severe invalidity, in many young individuals. Accident prevention is the most important measure to reduce this problem. The number of fatalities and the severity of the sequelae can be reduced through systematic, evidence based management of this patient group. Preventing secondary brain injury caused by hypoxemia or hypotension, together with the fastest possible transport to a neurosurgical unit, have been shown effective in reducing mortality and morbidity. Evidence based guidelines already exist that focus on all steps in the management line, from the site of accident to hospitalisation. This article, written by members of the Scandinavian Neurotrauma Committee, presents recommendations from the Brain Trauma Foundation, adapted to the infrastructure of the Nordic region.
