Sammanfattning
The article describes the intersectoral training of key staff in palliation, arranged by the Skt. Lukas Hospice in the spring of 2007. By no means all terminal patients need to be attached to a palliative team or admitted to a hospice. However, all terminal patients need professionals who can provide caring and sufficient palliative treatment and care, regardless of whe-ther the terminal patient is at home, in a nursing home or in hospital. The key staff training course ran for 16 teaching days over a period of four months. Eighteen nurses from the primary and secondary sectors had their knowledge of palliative treatment and care updated enabling them subsequently to function as key palliation staff at their respective workplaces. The training course was evaluated externally and the conclusion was that the participants had acquired a substantially greater know-ledge and qualified, strengthened personal approach to the care of the terminally ill.
