Sammanfattning
Consultancy nurses may in future play a crucial role in strengthening the all important effort to help type 2-diabetes patients to change their lifestyle. The article presents a programme of patient-oriented care which consultancy nurses can use as a point of departure. The programme was developed by Robin Whittemore and is supplemented in the article by Vibeke Zoffmann's Guided Self-Decision-making method.
The programme focuses on the nurse helping the patient to master his/her situation, take responsibility for their own treatment and to integrate their illness into their everyday lives, as well as to overcome barriers.
