Sammanfattning

This article draws attention to some challenges concerning Evidence-based practice (EBP) in regard to the nursing profession. These challenges are considered mainly in relation to, on the one hand, the knowledge based of natural science, and on the other hand, the phenomenological understanding of knowledge related to the patient’s life world. It is argued that nurses cannot facilitate EBP without understanding the premises for natural science and phenomenology. It is also pointed out that the trained and the non trained nurse have different challenges and complementary knowledge concerning EBP.
