Sammanfattning

In a study conducted at the departments of infectious diseases and internal medicine at Örebro University Hospital 2007-2008 the body temperature of 318 patients was measured. Four different thermometers were used: two tympanic thermometers (Genius 2 and Braun ThermoScan PRO 4000) and two oral thermometers (Terumo-C402 and TempaDOT). The intra class correlation, ICC, varied from 0.85 to 0.89 with regard to repeatability and from 0.26 to 0.70 with regard to agreement with a rectal thermometer (Terumo-C402). The result imply that neither of the tested thermometers constitutes a satisfying alternative to rectal thermometers.
