Samband mellan riskfaktorer och komplikationer vid diabetes. Rapport efter 13 år med Nationella diabetesregistret (NDR)
Sammanfattning
The participation rate in the Swedish National Diabetes Register (NDR) has increased considerably during 13 years, to 220,000 patients with diabetes in 2008. Levels of HbA1c, blood pressure and blood lipids in patients with type 1 diabetes have improved, while levels of HbA1c and blood lipids in type 2 diabetes have improved. However, regarding type 2 diabetic patients in 2008, only 38% achieved blood pressure =130 mmHg in spite of increasing use of antihypertensive drugs, the frequency of obesity was high (41%), and the frequency of smoking in middle age was high (23%). Observational prospective studies in type 2 diabetes with follow-up for six years showed reduced relative risks for coronary heart disease and cardiovascular disease in patients with lower levels of HbA1c, blood pressure, BMI and in non-smokers. Comparison of risk factor levels between hospitals and between county councils have been published in the NDR Year Report 2008.
