Sammanfattning

Risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Results from the Swedish national diabetes register compared with international studies Results according to recent studies from the Swedish national diabetes register (NDR): Type 1 and type 2 diabetes: increasing risk for cardiovascular disease with higher HbA1c values, but no increased risk at lower HbA1c. Type 2 diabetes: Considerably lower risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) at blood pressure 130-135/75 mmHg compared with 140/80 mmHg or higher. Ratio non-HDL-/HDL-cholesterol was a stronger risk factor for CVD than LDL-cholesterol, and lower levels of this ratio contributed to lower triglycerides and higher HDL-cholesterol values. Two new risk engines for multifactorial risk assessment of the 5-year risk of CVD in type 1-diabetes and type 2-diabetes are presented.
