Sammanfattning
The cumulative incidence of HIV contracted through sex between men, heterosexual contacts and intravenous drug abuse among individuals born in Sweden was calculated for 10 year birth cohorts. The cumulative incidence at age 35 dropped from 97 and 101 per 100.000 for men born in the 1950s and 1960s respectively to 60 for men born in the 1980s. Similarly the cumulative incidence for HIV contracted through intravenous drug abuse for 35 year olds dropped for men from 44 per 100.000 for men born in the 1950s to 6 for men born in the 1970s. For women the incidence dropped from 18 per 100.00 for women born in the 1960s to 4 for women born in the 1970s. The cumulative incidence of HIV contracted through heterosexual contact is low but as opposed to the other transmission groups, no reduction was observed here.
