Sammanfattning
The prevalences of most types of arrhythmias differ between men and women. AV-nodal reentrant tachycardia, ectopic atrial tachycardia, inappropriate sinus tachycardia, and right ventricular outflow tract tachycardia are more common among women, while atrioventricular re-entrant tachycardia, atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, and ischemic ventricular tachycardia are more common among men. Women less frequently and with a higher symptom burden receive interventions to restore sinus rhythm or antiarrhythmic drug therapy for rhythm control, and are referred for ablation procedures later than men. Whether these differences are explained by differences in age and comorbidities or are related to other factors remain to be evaluated.
