Sammanfattning
The aim of this study was to describe employees’ experiences of not being involved in organizational changes in the work place.
Qualitative focus group interview was chosen as a method for collecting data, which was analyzed by using a phenomenological hermeneutic
method based on Recoeur’s philosophy.
The results were categorized into three themes: To be at a margin, to be vulnerable and to be insecure.
The results were discussed in the light of Habermas’ philosophy of the modern society.
The conclusion is that being at a margin in changing processes which affect the workplace, led to a feeling of insecurity, reduced control and
threat to the professional identity. The informants experiences confirm the theory that changes in complex organizations are difficult and that
experiences of insecurity, lack of prediction and hidden values in the culture, affect the change, both concerning the process and the result.
