The article investigates the patient education phenomenon in Denmark in 2010. How great a need is there for patient education, and what types are available? Which chronic diseases have been tied in with patient education, and how effective are Danish measures? What is required in order for patient education to function as intended, and are there savings to society when the chronically sick learn to manage facets of their own treatment? The article presents the patient-management programme, CDSMP, in Danish: learn to live with chronic disease, as an evidence-based and effective method which results in significant participant satisfaction.
