This article is about nursing theories and how and if we need them. It is important to discuss if and not least why nurses should use nursing theory. The purpose of the article is therefore to discuss nursing theory in a broad sense. The article starts with an argument directed at why it is as topical as ever to focus on nursing theory. Then the term and concept is defined. Lastly, a case is made for why and how nurses should use nursing theory.
