Sammanfattning
Background and purpose: Increasing demands to efficiency and expertise in nursing practice require new developments in continuing
education. The aim of this study was to evaluate use of learning management system and student’s evaluation of e-learning combined with
traditional lectures, and suggestions for improvements in the post graduated program:Wound- prevention, treatments and palliation at
Buskerud University College
Method: A triangulation method was used, combining quantitative and qualitative data and course statistics from the Learning Management
System (LMS) in June 2009. The evaluations criteria are grounded in didactic relational theory and e-learning didactics are inspired by Gilly
Salmon’s teaching and learning online model.
Result: The students’ evaluation showed that four out of five reached the learning goals. The results from LMS showed that the students were
active at different areas. The intensity of activities in the Group areas was most prevalent. The students used their LMS all around the clock
and at any day during the week, and highest between 9-10 pm. The students aged 40 and over, were more positive using video material and
discussions one line, compared to younger students.
Conclusion: Even though the students used the LMS and its possibilities, they requested more permanent teaching days with clinical experts,
supervision, practical training and reflection and more "face - to - face" discussions in the classroom.
