Sammanfattning
Aim: The aim of this study was to explore and describe the nurses attitude to the Individual plan (IP) as a tool. Further the aim was to find out
to what degree the nurses have prepared the IP for cancer patients after they have gone through a training program.
Background: Among the nurses there was a general opinion about cancer patients rarely receiving a prepared IP which is a legalized right.
The IP is very important in achieving the patient’s co ‘operation and safe experience.
Methods: This study used Mixed Methods design.
Results: The respondents existed of 68 nurses and 35 leaders. 70% of all respondents were generally positive to prepare IP and the 95%
answered that IP training was very important in order that it could be integrated in customary treatment. 30% had prepared one or more IP’s
for cancer patients.
Conclusion: The nurses surveyed wanted more knowledge about how to prepare an IP. In summery it seems like that the training program has
resulted in more IP’s for cancer patients. In practice, however, there is a great potential for improvement.
