Sammanfattning

This article illustrates how life history research can be used as a research method. The approach is qualitative with a sociological perspective. Life history research will be exemplified by a text of the Danish educator and politician Søren Gytz Olesen. Olesen uses a life history interview with an informant and puts this into a social context. Life history research as a method can be used as an approach to research in the light of Pierre Bourdieu and Francine Muel-Dreyfus. To understand an individual's social history, his life history must be seen in the light of the historical context of both the person himself and the environment which the person is a part of. This is because an analysis of social practices will be related to both the field and the actors that create and recreate the field. The article focuses on attention to life history research methodology.
