Sammanfattning

Due to the European economic crisis, EU migrants in Sweden have grown in number. EU migrants constitute a risk group for poor health due to unemployment and/or homelessness. Our aim was to identify the self-perceived psychological and reproductive health and the access to health care amongst female EU migrants in Stockholm. Eleven semi-structured interviews were conducted, recorded, transcribed and analysed using qualitative content analysis. The theme "Survival at the price of poor health" emerged. Gynaecological problems were common but not always a cause of suffering. Few could relate to the concept of mental illness. Many felt stressed about their social and economic vulnerability. A need for health care was identified but not fully met because of lack of the European health insurance card.
