Sammanfattning
Studies have revealed challenges in basic palliative care interventions at Danish care facilities.
The Danish National Commission on Ageing is the sole body that directly addresses palliative care
interventions at national care facilities. The Danish Health and Medicines Authority, the Danish
Healthcare Quality Programme and the Danish College of General Practitioners undertake only
indirect or no monitoring at all. At the same time, there are no national records of the number of
citizens in Danish care facilities receiving palliative care. Owing to the growing elderly population, an
increasing number of citizens will eventually require palliative care. Going forward, there is
consequently a need for well-defined visions and goals for the quality of palliative care interventions
at Danish care facilities.
