Sammanfattning
This article focuses on that the public services have to have knowledge about empowerment-
oriented tools. Self-help and peer support are tools based on the individual user's potential and
resources. Through fellowship and mutual learning processes the individual users develop strength
and perspectives on their own challenges and situation. This gives users a good position to succeed
with their own project. Self-help and peer support can cover needs in the substance abuse and
mental health field, and can represent a supplement to the health services.
