Sammanfattning
There is a reeason why Roma people in Romania and Bulgaria travel to
other parts of Europe for their living. At home they are still deprived of their
basic human rights. Social indicators show that they are far behind the majority
population in terms of education, employment, housing and health
standards. Most of them live in deep misery and their average life length is
considerably shorter than for others. There are several reasons for all this
but the main cause is the structural discrimination based on anti-Gypsyism,
the wide-spread contempt and negative prejudices which still fall upon this
ethnic minority, the largest one in Europe.
