Sammanfattning
Main message: The new responsibility of the Danish professional colleges for generating
practice research seeks to build the competencies of upcoming health professionals to identify,
address and solve problems characterising the health service in a future welfare society. The
strategy involves targeted acquisition of new knowledge embodying scientific stringency and
evidence-based theory with application-oriented and innovative practice objectives.
Method: A discussion of perspectives on and approaches to practice-led and application-oriented
activities with the aim of skills building among students on professional healthcare degree and
diploma programmes and in clinical practice.
Results: In all the healthcare disciplines there is an increasing need for reflexive practitioners who
are capable of weighing up differing interests and knowledge types amidst the complexity and
changeable nature of interdisciplinary practice. This entails robust knowledge cycles via
partnerships between education, research and practice.
Implications for healthcare disciplines:
The development and consolidation of robust knowledge cycles empowers future health
professionals to deal with a complex reality.
