Sammanfattning
For patients with advanced cancer, the evidence of using medical appetite stimulants is sparse. A literature database search for randomized, controlled trials found data from 11 drugs. Only for
corticosteroids and progestins there was enough evidence to support their use for improving appetite and weight gain. Several drugs are currently being tested. If medical appetite stimulation
commences, it is recommended to be part of a multimodal therapy for patients with advanced cancer, weight loss and lack of appetite.
