Sammanfattning

The purpose was to investigate whether risky injection behaviour could affect the risk of intervention based on Motivational Interviewing (MI). The study had 118 participants recruited from Stockholm and lasted for the year 2012-2014. The participants had injected drugs for the last six months. They were randomly assigned to the control- and risk intervention group. Calls for risk intervention group were based on the MI. The control group was informed briefly about protective factors for drug related infections. Follow up interviews took place on two occasions. The study could not demonstrate differences between the risk interventions- and the control group regarding changes in risky injecting behaviour. It seems that focused conversations about injecting habits play to affect risky injection behaviour.
