Blues Mothers. Et gruppebasert mestringstilbud ved födselsdepresjon
Sammanfattning
he coping group Blues Mothers was developed to meet the needs of women who struggle during
pregnancy or after birth. The aim of this qualitative study was to explore the participants’ experience
of the group, pregnancy and the postpartum period. Thematic analysis of audio recordings of
interviews with nine women resulted in three main themes: 1) a situation loaded with strains beyond
the women’s capacity for coping, and 2) that this situation led to vicious circles caused by shame and
worries related to being an inadequate mother. Finally, it was found that 3) Blues Mothers contributed
to breaking these vicious circles by adjusting the women’s ideals, providing new perspectives and
strengthen the women’s own coping resources.
