Sammanfattning
The aim of the present study is to identify contributing factors to the endurance of an intervention
concerning intergenerational relations. As a result of a project conducted in 2006 there was
established an intergenerational program in a local community in Norway for elders and pre-school
children. In 2011 this program was evaluated through a focus group interview with employees and
volunteers that had contributed in the program since the start. Primary focus of the interview was
health promotion characteristics and practical organizing of the intergenerational program. Inductive
qualitative content analyses were performed. The most prominent factors considering endurance of
the intervention was the experience of use and meaningfulness, cooperation, support and facilitation
in addition to a balance between predictability and flexibility in the program. These factors
correspond to health promotion perspectives. In this article they are being related to the components
of the theory of Antonovsky, Sense of Coherence, and especially meaningfulness as the motivational
component correlated well to the informants’ contribution in the program.
