Sammanfattning
The assessment instruments Alcohol-E and DUDIT-E are recommended integrated in the
assessment of substance use and motivation to change. However, little is known about their clinical
relevance. This article explores clinicians’ and patients’ perceptions of the tools’ usefulness in a
relational context, during the initial phase of treatment. 15 clinicians and 28 of their patients were
recruited from five out-patient clinics in Stavanger and Hamar, Norway, resulting in 56 responded
questionnaires regarding the instruments’ usefulness. Results show a broad agreement in clinicians’
and patients’ perception of the usefulness of Alcohol-E and DUDIT-E. The results are interesting for
further discussions regarding the implementation of these instruments.
