Sammanfattning
Nursing students are uncertain, experience anxiety and display prejudice when encountering the
psychiatric field, a field that is constantly changing and developing. Preparing students for the field is
a challenge for the university, and a lack of communication leads to a gap between education and
practice. Nurse preceptors in the field believe that student preparation before placement must be
improved both in terms of theoretical knowledge and non-technical skills, such as communication and
cooperation. The article describes an action research process in a university and the psychiatric field
where the intention was to develop students' skills training before placement.
