Publishing activity and the academic publishing for senior researchers (professors)
in social work have been highlighted sparingly in the social sciences
research. The aim of this article is to focuses on scientific publishing in the
review assessed journals. A particular focus is the professors in social work
and their publishing activities in different scientific journals. A total of 116
scientific articles have been analysed according to the presence of open access
publications, type of journals and language of publication. The results
do not indicate an increased publications in internationally reviewed journals,
compared with the trend observed in the research in the humanities and
social sciences. Although the scientific production has been redoubled in
the 2000s in the social sciences nationally, the results show not the same
trend. Further research should follow up scientific publication patterns in social
work and comparative studies between institutions and subjects would
be interesting. Further research should also follow different publication patterns
of newly appointed researchers (associate professors) from publishing
activity in international journals.
