Sammanfattning
Dental injuries in preschool children is a phenomenon that often
means a stressful situation for both guardians and caregivers. An
injured child can be difficult to examine due to age, fear, or behavior
management problems. The trauma diagnosis should always be
preceded by a thorough history taking, clinical and radiographic
examinations. An incomplete examination can lead to incomplete
diagnoses and less successful treatment. Trauma injuries in the
primary dentition is divided into soft tissue, hard tissue, supportive
tissue damage, and jaw fractures. The same patient often has multiple
types of injuries. The aim of acute treatment is to eliminate
pain and create optimal healing conditions and reduce risks of
injury to permanent dental germs. However, there is no consensus
in literature about the best treatment of dental injuries in the primary
dentition. Guidelines are often based on experience rather
than scientific evidence.
