Sammanfattning

The article summarizes parts of a guidance presenting health promotion as a driving force for sustainable development (1). The purpose of the guidance is to make the work for a sustainable society more accessible to many more (to all) by converting the complex and abstract concept of sustainable development into something relevant and universal in an everyday context. The starting point is basic human needs and the building of a sustainable society is to meet these needs - health promotion processes are central. An increased awareness of the importance of health promotion processes for a sustainable society makes it reasonable to expect increased interest to identify, strengthen and develop these processes further. It creates a virtuous circle in the work for a sustainable society. Health promotion processes as the driving force for sustainable development makes it possible with an inclusive approach that makes it easier for future leadership, to gather around common objectives and to reach an obvious sense of participation in the work of a sustainable society – a successful society. Health care is in this context one actor among many others for whom the concept of sustainable development, the UN's global sustainability and Agenda 2030, through health promotion can develop into natural commitment. The Swedish HPH network (HFS) can be a support in this process.
