Sammanfattning

The aim of this article was to examine the referrals to the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Behavorial Science, Insititute of Clinical Dentistry at the University of Oslo to chart who was referring and the reason for referring. The results of the survey were compared to similar studies from Norway and Sweden. In total, 395 patients were referred between January 1st 2012 and December 31st 2014. More than 66 % of the referrals came from the counties Oslo and Akershus. Dentists from the Public Dental Health Service referred most of the patients, and the most frequent cause of referral was dental developmental defects. The results showed that the longer the distance to the specialist clinic, the less likely the patient was to be referred.
