Sammanfattning

There is an increasing interest for social sustainability, even if the major focus still is ecological sustainability. In 2013 the “Center for Social Sustainability” (CSS) was established at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, and some researcher contributed to a special issue in the Journal of Social Medicineon Compassion, Altruism and Social Sustainability (Vol 90, nr 2, 2013). Wehavenowinvitedresearchgroupsinterestedinthefieldofsocialsustainability, and together we have produced a new special issue on social sustainability, where several contributions are focusing on individual sustainability, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and how they are interconnected, and also how leadership and work place factors are related to a sustainable working life. Our connection to other animals and nature in relation to sustainability is also explored.
