Sammanfattning
Introduction: Heart and lung transplantation is an accepted treatment for end-stage heart and lung disease. This paper reviews our experience with more than 500 consecutive heart and lung transplantations performed at Rigshospitalet since 1990. Materials and methods: Demographic data on all patients were collected at the time of transplantation. Outcome data after transplantation were collected from the Scandinavian transplantation database (Scandiatransplant). Results: Survival 1, 5 and 10 years after heart transplantation (n = 202) was 89%, 79% and 64% respectively; 85%, 69% and 49% of lung-transplanted patients (n = 294) and 85%, 64% and 58% of heart/lung transplanted patients (n = 20) were alive 1, 5 and 10 years after transplantation. Discussion: In Denmark, short- and long-term survival after heart and lung transplantation compares favorably with that seen in international registry data and data from major European and American transplant centers.
