Sammanfattning

Work related accidents and injuries has followed a statioannary course over the past 15-20 years in Denmark and is today recognised as one of most serious work environment hazard. Accidents are unexpected events, which is not to be mistaken with unforeseen and thereby preventable events. It is a widespread understanding that safety attitudes, habits and behaviour (safety-culture) are import factors behind work accidents. However, in spite of much talk about safety-culture, there is limited research on what is comprising this social construction, and thereby its importance for work accidents. Only a small amount of work accidents, in modern workplaces, is caused by technical faults - about 80-90% is designated to »human errors«. This approach tends to focus on who did it, instead of what happened. However accidents does principally not occur as a result of unawairness from single persons, but as a result of weeknesses in the organisation, where there has been insufficient focus on the fact that human errors can occur. This broardspectered system-oriented approach to learning is a conclusive premise fore the prevention of work accidents.
