Anvendelsen af tromboseprofylakse på kirurgiske afdelinger i Danmark. Resultatet af den femte enqueteundersögelse
Sammanfattning
Introduction: The aim of the study was to determine the level of prevention of postoperative venous thromboembolism in Danish surgical departments. Materials and methods: A postal survey questionnaire was sent to all Danish surgical departments in the year 2000. Results: Replies were received from 198 of 212 departments (95%). Among the departments performing major surgery, 96% used thromboprophylaxis (TP) routinely. Ninety-two percent of those used TP according to written instructions. All departments used low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) as TP. Extended prophylaxis has not gained impact in Denmark, as only 17% of the orthopaedic surgery departments continued TP after discharge. Only 43% of the departments use TP in emergency surgery. Discussion: The majority of Danish surgical departments administer postoperative thromboprophylaxis in accordance with international recommendations. However, in accordance with evidence-based medicine all departments performing orthopedic, general or gynaecologic surgery should use TP routinely, including in emergency surgery. Furthermore, extended TP should be used for major orthopaedic surgery.
