Leadership in nursing is a disciplin based upon the core of clinical nursing and effort and responsibility are to establish the best conditions in nursing for the sake of the patients.
The focus is that leadership in nursing is to create results for the patients, the professional performance, employees and the organisation. Further to create a culture, which is able to create results and constantly to monitor and evaluate that the results are reached.
However a study among nursing leaders has shown that the competencies related to research, data analysis and application are valued as having the smallest impact for nursing leadership. Another study has showed that nursing leaders spent their time on staff management, administration and strategic management.
