Sammanfattning

Jimsonweed (Datura stramonium ) is a hallucinogenic plant containing significant amounts of belladonna alkaloids. The scientific name is derived form the Greek word meaning »mad«, due to the sometimes dramatic symptoms following jimsonweed intoxication. Consumption of any part of the plant can result in potentially lethal anticholinergic syndrome. This paper presents the classic symptoms of jimsonweed poisoning and general guidelines for management of poisoning with anticholinergic drugs and plants.
