Sammanfattning
School health care is characterised by role confusion and ambiguous professional identity. This is one of the preliminary conclusions of two research and development projects related to health professionals in Greenland and health visitors in Copenhagen Municipality. The article aims to contribute to a clearer definition of the value-related challenges of health care in relation to children and young adults. Another aim is to help clarify the role the health visitor has and wants to play in health-promotion work and preventative measures in schools. The emphasis is on the discussion of dominant values and issues prevalent in school health care, for example on obesity. There is a need in both prevention and health promotion to work with participant-oriented processes and expert health knowledge traditionally based on biomedical values. Furthermore, the article a focus on target-group participation as a fundamental element of the basic values of health care and the issue of dialogue in relation to the health of children and young adults is also discussed.
The article is original and has not yet been evaluated.
