It is the aim of this new strategy which is focused on the contribution of nursing care to development and research in somatic hospitals in the Region of Vejle that the nursing care experienced by all patients is highly professional. This article describes how the strategy is formed as a practical tool that shows the way to the goal. This is created: through the preparation of an action oriented and measu-rable strategy; by giving the strategy a relevant and pertinent content; by adapting the strategy to those activities that have already been implemented in the individual units; and by ensuring that the strategy is followed up all the way through, from start to finish.
