Sammanfattning
In 2009, the Center of Adolescent Medicine, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, conducted a questionnaire study focusing on young hospitalized patients’ experiences. 167 young patients admitted to children´s departments (N=58) or adult departments (N=109) were included. Young patients reported an unmet need for information about disease/condition (28 percent) and patient rights (34 percent). Smoking and use of alcohol were discussed more frequently with young patients admitted with adult departments compared to children’s departments. Sensitive issues were often discussed in the presence of parents (41 percent). 45 percent felt bored during admission, and 52 percent wanted contact with other young patients at the hospital. However, less than 20 percent had such a contact. This study confirms the need of developing Youth Friendly Health Services in the hospital.
