Sammanfattning
Unaccompanied minors is a group at risk to develop drug abuse and/or mental
ill-health. Many suffer from trauma and have experience from other drugcultures.
Therefore it is of big importance to have knowledge of mental health,
culture and narcotics in the encounter with these minors. They have a great
need of security and close relations. Non-governmental organizations like SIMON,
Swedes and immigrants against drugs, play an important role through
intergenerational activities offering long-term relations that do not abandon
the minors due to terminated authority-based commitments. Through educating
the members within the organization in mental health, narcotics and associative
work and focusing on the resources of the members, SIMON forms
a platform for confidence building relations, as well as spreading the knowledge
of the members to authorities and organizations, and if necessary link
the minors to professional assistance.
