Sammanfattning

Today when new therapies are on the verge of introduction into Swedish health care, not only scientific evaluations are required. Even from the upper echelons of science references are made to national traditions when judgements are made concerning a therapy’s right to exist. This article deals with aspects of the medical history of central and northern Europe of relevance to today’s discussions on the anthroposophic medical arts. They are largely based on established treatment traditions within the physical-dietic area which have been a well-integrated part of Swedish medicine and health care. One exception ‒ the anthroposophic development of homeopathy ‒ is not accepted within the framework for public health care here. This article contributes to an understanding of the relationship between different methods of treatment in Sweden and their significance for integrative medicine.
