Sammanfattning

«Assertive Community Treatment» (ACT) aims to improve patients’ contact with the health services, reduce hospitalizations and improve social functioning. The target group is people with severe and prolonged illnesses, and the therapeutic thinking is recovery-inspired. While we know a great deal about how ACT works, we know little about peer experience of working within such a model. This study, which is based on focus group interviews with two Danish and one Norwegian ACT team, shows that professionals experience their work as meaningful, especially compared to previous work in mental health care. Challenges in relation to the necessary framework conditions are discussed.
