Sammanfattning

Mindfulness interventions are increasingly popular in the treatment of mental disorders. Few studies have examined how this intervention may affect patients with psychosis. The aim of this literature review was to investigate if mindfulness-based interventions can be effective and safe interventions for patients with non-affective and non-organic psychosis. The results indicated that mindfulness-based interventions reduce subjective distress associated with psychotic symptoms. In addition, no harmful effect was documented. In conclusion, there is little risk for doing harm to patients by participating in therapies where mindfulness is involved. Furthermore, mindfulness-based interventions seem to reduce the negative impact of hearing voices and other psychotic symptoms have on subjective well-being.
