Sammanfattning
High employment is one of the government’s top priorities and involves influencing older employees to postpone retirement. The aim of this qualitative study is to investigate how knowledge workers between the age of 55 and 60 adapt to their current work situation, and what goals they have for their future working life. This study is based on seven semi-structured interviews. Through an interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA), we shed light on the experience of older workers and their ideas about the present and future. The analysis resulted in three thematic categories: 1. Change competency, 2. Learning and development, and 3. A lot to contribute going forward. By emphasizing advantageous adaptations and arrangements that help to prolong working life, organizations will be in a better position to utilize the resources older workers represent.
